What is the falling action of the book Heat by Mike Lupica?
Q. The falling action in a work of literature is the sequence of events that follow the climax and end in the resolution. This is in contrast to the rising action which leads up to the plot's climax.

Pitch his Bronx all-star team to the district finals and a shot at the Little League World Series. But there is a problem. Michael is good too good. Rival coaches and players can t believe a boy could be this good and be only twelve years old. And Michael has no way to prove it no mother, no father, and a birth certificate that is stuck home in his native Cuba. If the people from social services find out his secret, he will have an even worse problem: being separated from the only family he knows, his older brother Carlos. Asked by Alyssa - Wed Sep 16 20:20:21 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. exposition is where you meet the characters and whatnot. rising action is when the main story starts. stuff starts getting interesting and the main problem in the story becomes clear as to what it is. climax is when the tension is at the highest level it willl get to in the story. (in other words its the most exciting part) falling action is everything starting to calm down. and the resolution is self explanatory. everything gets solved. hope that helps :)

A. Rising action is the point leading up to the climax of the story. The falling action is the aftermath. If you know the story of the 3 little pigs. Rising action is all the way up to the 3rd little pigs house being attempted to be blown down by the wolf. The climax is when the wolf gets burned in the cauldron in the chimney. The falling action is the pigs dancing around in celebration at the wolf writhing in pain.

Q. Are denouement and falling action the same thing? I thought that denouement and falling action were distinct things, but I'm not sure now. Does anyone know? When you answer, please provide a reputable source (this is to show a teacher, I'm trying to contest an answer on a quiz :P).

A. They are not the same thing. Denouement is the resolution of the story and comes after the falling action. I've listed the definition of denouement below - from various sources. Also, the link below shows the literary elements of a story and explains what they are. I hope this helps, good luck! A. Thing is, I won't do your homework for you (and I don't think your teacher really cares what I think anyway. They probably care more about what you think if I had to guess). If you want to post what YOU think the answer to the question is, I'll comment on if I agree or not and help you refine your answer. But I will not just up and give the answer to you because you are too lazy to attempt finding it yourself.

Before: Miles (aka Pudge) is going to Culver Creek, a boarding school in Alabamam where he is going to seek a 'Great Perhaps'. There, he meets Chip (aka The Colonel) and they become friends, and The Colonel introduces him to Alaska. Alaska is a crazy, beautiful, and emotionally unstable girl. Pudge falls instantly into lust, but Alaska has a college boyfriend. Alaska, Pudge, The Colonel and their other friends start a prank war with people on campus, drink, smoke, and do everything that teenagers are expected to do. A. Ah man, I haven't read this book in forever. I'll try my best though. I'd just like to point out before I start that few, if any, books actually follow the "rising action, falling action, resolution" model. However, in this case I'll try to make it work. Okay, so the climax in my opinion is actually at the ending, but for this model, I'll say it's at the point where the Specials infiltrate the Smoke. The rising action would then be Tally learning that the Pretty operation gives brain lesions. The falling action would be David and Tally going on the rescue mission and finding out all the stuff that has happened. The resolution would be Tally deciding to save Shay and help Maddy by becoming pretty herself. I'd actually say the antagonist… [cont.]

A. There are two situations that you may be referring to: 1) When Anna comes out and tries to sue her mother and father for being genetically engineered to provide blood to save her sisters life. 2) Where things turn around, and it happens to be Anna that dies and not her sister. Anna dies in a horrific car accident with her attorney.

Q. I have to do a report on a book i read ova the summer please help???
Asked by dance4eva - Wed Jul 22 19:51:57 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The climax is the middle of the story. It's where the problem is and the best/hottest part of the story is. It's where all the excitement is, I guess. The rising action is basically the beginning part of the story, the part between the very beginning of the story and the climax. The rising action is what builds up all of the excitement and suspense, which leads to the climax. The falling action is the end of the story. It's the part between the climax and the very ending of the story. In the falling action, the problem gets solved and the excitement and suspense are falling and falling down and becoming gone, which will lead to the very end of the story. Think of a mystery story (example), in the beginning and rising action, strange… [cont.]
